ಸಾಗರ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಒಂದು ನಗರ ಮತ್ತು ಅದೇ ಹೆಸರಿನ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಆಡಳಿತ ಕೇಂದ್ರ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರದಿಂದ ೩೬೦ ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಾಗರ ನಗರವು ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಗೊಳಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಮಳೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಬೀಳುವ ಸಾಗರ ತಾಲೂಕು ಸಹಜವಾಗಿ ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ಕಾಡು ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಸಂಕುಲಗಳಿಗೆ ತವರಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಾರಣಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಸಾಗರ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ. ಶ್ರೀಗಂಧ ಕೆತ್ತನೆಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಸಾಗರವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಗಂಧದ ಗುಡಿ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
