Jog Falls

"Jog Falls" is one of the most popular and highest  Water falls in the Karantaka, India. Water falls is formed by river called Sharavathi. The falls have 4 splits, all the four falls have been named as "Raja", "Rani", "Rorar" and "Rocket".

Highest and longest  of  Jog falls is about  approximately 830 feets (253 meters). Because of the height and dept ,it is World famous. Trekkers can even visit to the bottom of the falls by climbing down the stairs as mentioned below. 


Traveler's bungalow has been built near the "Jog Falls". One can even go close to the water falls from the bungalow side. Roaring water Speed, Sound and mist formation is amazing scene. One has to feel it. 
Best time to visit :
  • Between August and September as this is rainy season, we would get to see maximum water
  • To get best pictures try to visit JogFalls second half of the day
  • Try to avoid going to Jog falls late evening
  • One can visit to the base of Jog Falls, there are 1400 steps to go down and come up.
  • So if you are planning to do trekking plan accordingly, it takes approximately 2 hours one side

By Road/Bus:
  • Shimoga is approximately 320 Kms from Bangalore, which is 7 hours of drive from Bangalore
Public Transportation is available: Nearest bus station is Sagara Taluk, Shimoga District
  • K.S.R.T.C Buses available from Kempegowda Bus station
  • Own Vehicles take below mentioned Road
Bangalore-> Tumkur->Arasikere->Shimoga->Sagara->30 kms towards Jog Falls

By Air:
  • Nearest Airport is Mangalore which is aroung 200 Kms.
  • Most of the Airlines like Kingfisher,Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Indian, Air-India operates from all major cities
  • From there one has to take either private or Public transport to reach Shimoga
By Train
  • Taliguppa in Shimoga is the nearest railway station to Jog Falls Karnataka
